Many people regularly make bets be they on horses or football or indeed who is going to win Big Brother. Many people are a bit wary of betting on the internet or just do not see it as being as much fun as betting in a bookies. True there is not the atmosphere that there is in a bookie shop but the atmosphere perhaps is not what it was in this age of million dollar companies.
Here are a few ways in which you can utilise your internet and pc to make betting more profitable for you. Ultimately however much fun betting is it is at its most enjoyable when you win.
a) get the best odds
In a couple of clicks you can get odds on a wide range of events on a range of sites. You do not need to do very much. However you can do better than that and use some odds checking sites. One thing you need to note is that you will not neccisarily see the best odds that the internet has to offer because each odds checking site will only deal with a certain number of betting firms. Still it should enable you to come much closer to finding the best place to make your bet than you otherwise would.
Here are a few odds checking sites that I would recommend. If you do not like these ones there are plenty others for you to try. You will normally be able to get much better odds than you would on your highstreet.
www.toptipper.com (http://www.toptipper.com/servlet/tipping.Home?websiteid=1086)
Is a site I use - I am looking at adding some of the tipping side of the site to here as well - so let me know what you think. This site is rather nifty in my view and the odds comparisons are very easy to use.
http://www.betbase.info
and www.betbrain.com are also worth a look. Some sites are better for some sports events and some try to be more than just odds checking programes. Find which one or two suit you best.
b) find the best bets
It is easy online utilising various sites to find out where the lowest house margins are. You can find bets where there is only a tiny amount of overall profit make by the house over all the different outcomes for a game. 101% is sometimes seen and 102-3% is pretty common. If you can focus your bets on these games and utilise any knowledge you have it should not be too hard to at least break even if not make a tiny profit just by finding the best games and then finding the results with the best outcome.
c) easy to get and interpret data relating to fixtures etc.
It is really easy to find quality information about events etc on the internet covering anything from when events are taking place to the full history of ever previous encounter two teams have had. Some information comes at a price. Whilst this is unfortunate it is still possible to utlise some of this information to try to overcome the edge that the house edge. There are also forums like this one where bets can be discussed etc.
Here are a few sites that are worth a look - please tell me about any more that you use:-

d) get the best deals
Many sites offer free bets etc. True you will often need to meet terms and conditions to get these free bets and there may be restrictions in what you can place them on but they still add up to make online betting much more profitable than offline.
e) get up to the minute results. It is easy via the internet to follow what is happening during a game. True nothing beats actually being there or watching a game with your mates but this is a convinient second best
f) more bets offered. You can bet on the NFL, aussie rules football you name it you can bet on it online and you will rarely need to speak to anyone to sort it out - just a few clicks of the mouse and your there.
