Will Owen's loss prove Englands game

Sven has become a manager who we love to hate. Many English players fell in love with the man early on in his career and England and did not begrudge him the huge salary and thought that maybe he would get England where they should be - at the forefront of International Football.

Now however he seems to be the weakest link in the England Squad. The folly of picking only 4 strikers in the England squad and having two of them with serious injury problems and with Owen hardly having played in a long time is starting to tell.

Owen getting injured may actually be in Englands interests because quite simply he should not have been playing in the first place. He is a quality player but he does not particularly compliment the rest of the team and he has not played near enough football in the last while for him to be playing.

If England can play with five midfielders then to me they would be stronger - this would allow Lampard and Gerrard to move upfront alot more without leaving England vulerable defensively against the stronger teams. It might also create room for Aaron Lennon who looks to be strong and on form.

All we need now is for Beckham to get a groin strain and England will look like a team that could actually win something
