After watching most of the games in the round robin stage two of the strong contenders for winning the tournament would seem to be

Ronnie
John Higgins

I doubt that Ronnie will get good odds and the same could possibly be said for John Higgins. Ronnie will be getting a tough match against the superb potter that is Neil Robertson. Whilst Ronnie is on form his form can be a little fickle and in a best of 9 anything can happen. Ronnie possibly is not the man with the best composure to deal with finishing off a frame that robertson has score in but not scored 60+ points in.

The bookies put ronnie slightly more of a favourite in that match than he probably deserves but overall i still feel that ronnie is a good contender for the tournament. But Higgins might be a slightly better value option.

well i was right about the robertson v ronnie game being closer than the bookies thought but i did not quite anticipate higgins losing some form, robertson gaining lots of form, King and Cope playing out of their shells etc. All this make Robertsons day.

I would still not pick robertson for a future event though. His ring craft is still lacking. he frequently plays the wrong shot choice and relies on playing shots well to win. Put him up against a wide range of good alround players with good composure and robertson would struggle to win these games.
